**West Ham emerge victorious from relegation six-pointer.**
Not picking up a single point from neither the Brentford nor the Leeds games meant that Newcastle was a must-win for West Ham United. However, those three points somehow made the following match against Burnley even bigger, but the Hammers managed to overcome that pressure.
Burnley had the majority of the ball in the first-half, creating the best chances and capitalising with a Flemming header. Fortunately, West Ham equalised through Wilson just before half-time.
The second-half did see the hosts grow into the game, and substitute Tomas Soucek was the game changer. He scored his side’s second goal from virtually on the goal line, before having a parried shot which led to Walker-Peters tapping home the third.
Poor defending and even worse keeping did allow former Hammers Josh Cullen to pull one back for Burnley, but it was too little too late for them.
Although it was objectively a worse performance than against Newcastle, being able to win when you’re not playing at your best is also an important characteristic.
West Ham have six incredibly tough games after the international break, but they can go into them with a bit of confidence that they didn’t just fluke a win against the Magpies; they’re actually a side capable of winning matches.
