NFL confirms Josh Allen punishment after Chiefs game

Buffalo Bills starting quarterback Josh Allen may be one of the most high-profile players in the league, but even he was not able to avoid punishment from the league this week.

In recent years, the NFL has been cracking down on touchdown celebrations that the league deems violent in nature, including anything related to guns or firearms. That crackdown landed Allen in trouble this week.

During the third quarter of Sunday’s win over the Kansas City Chiefs, Josh Allen ran for a touchdown to extend the team’s lead. He then ran to celebrate with his teammates, including wide receiver Elijah Moore.

To celebrate the touchdown, Allen and Moore faced each other and both made finger guns. The NFL, however, was not too thrilled by the celebration.

On Saturday, the league announced that it had fined both Allen and Moore for what it deemed a “violent gesture.”

The league announced that Allen’s fine was $14,491 while Moore’s fine was $13,888, though as [Pro Football Talk](https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/nfl-fines-josh-allen-elijah-moore-for-violent-gesture-after-td) points out, there was no explanation from the league about why Allen was fined $603 more when they both did the same thing at the same time.

It’s worth noting that there was nothing terribly malicious about the celebration outside of the fact that it mimicked firearms, but this has been a point of emphasis for the league.
