TIME will help the [Cherries](http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/cherries/clubnews/?ref=au) centre backs to become more coordinated, after defensive lapses saw them punished last weekend at Manchester City, Andoni Iraola said.

Marcos Senesi partnered Bafode Diakite at the heart of the Bournemouth back line last weekend, and Iraola said a couple of key mistakes were punished by their hosts, particularly Erling Haaland, who scored a brace.

He admitted that there were a couple of coordination issues that opened spaces for Haaland to exploit after the game, while also saying that against most other strikers those errors go unnoticed.

And he said that those experiences at the Etihad will help the team going forward.

“Obviously time helps when you make mistakes, after you have the experience and probably you are more ready for the next one,” he told the Daily Echo.

“But also I think the opponent is key because the same mistakes against someone that is not Haaland, probably they don't have the same consequences.

“And we've done it, definitely we've done it before against other strikers and nothing has happened. They haven't scored and everyone has said no, they are doing very well.

“But at this level normally, you pay for the mistakes. And it's true that we had moments there, especially like late first half, I would say, where we didn't get the coordination right.

“They're in the defensive line and they punished us. But we have to accept, we have to learn and I hope for next time we are more ready.

“But these things take time.”
