Exclusive: Mark Clattenburg says there was a big mistake during Everton vs Fulham, it may…

Everton were full value for their three points against Fulham on Saturday afternoon at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

David Moyes has entered the international break in style as the Toffees kept up their tremendous record before the international break.

The Blues have four wins to their name this season and three of those have come just before each of the three international breaks.

Everton ended the day in 11th place in the table and pulled four points clear of Saturday’s opponents.

It could have been even better for Moyes and his side who had a staggering three goals ruled out for offside.

Although offsides are difficult to argue against, former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg told Everton News another refereeing mistake may have been made on Merseyside.

Mark Clattenburg pinpoints referee mistake in Everton vs Fulham

Clattenburg has already backed Everton against refereeing decisions going against the Toffees this season.

There was another one on Saturday when Fulham midfielder Sasa Lukic dragged down Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, on the counter attack, whilst already on a yellow card.

Speaking to Everton News, Clattenburg has admitted that the 29-year-old can consider himself very lucky not to have been sent off for a second yellow.

“Sasa Lukic was very fortunate not to receive a yellow card for bringing down Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall which stopped a promising attack,” Clattenburg told Everton News.

“This was a routine yellow card and certainly reached the higher threshold of the second yellow card that Premier League referees use when sending players off for a second yellow card.

“Interesting that VAR may be allowed from next season to recommend a review for a second yellow card.”

Moyes was delighted with Everton’s Dewsbury-Hall during the game against the Cottagers, as he excelled in the number 10 position.

It was apparent that Dewsbury-Hall was causing Lukic, in particular, plenty of issues, with Clattenburg amazed the midfielder was able to carry on playing.

Marco Silva knew Andy Madley should have sent Sasa Lukic off

If referee Andy Madley needed any indication that he got his decision wrong near the end of the first half, Marco Silva gave him that during the break.

The former Everton boss replaced Lukic at the interval as he was clearly aware just how fortunate he was to still have all 11 players available.

Fortunately, Everton are not looking back on the decision from Madley with any frustration as they add their three points to their tally.

“We didn’t get any from VAR, but we got a goal from midfield and we’ve been lacking scoring from set-pieces… but thankfully we got one today,” Moyes said after the game.

It’s not the first time a result has not gone in Everton’s favour this season. Hopefully, the next one will go in the favour of the Blues
