Everton earned a 2-0 victory over Fulham in the Premier League at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Marco Silva admitted that Fulham failed to match Everton’s physicality as his troops fell to a deserved defeat.
The Toffees delivered a much-needed victory with a 2-0 triumph over the Cottagers at Hill Dickinson Stadium. Goals from Idrissa Gana Gueye and Michael Keane delivered Everton all three points, while they had three goals disallowed for offside.
Fulham had their moments but Everton were comfortable for much of the encounter as they moved up to 11th in the Premier League. And former Blues boss Silva had no complaints about the result and rued the Londoners’ performance.
“Disappointing result for us, but more than the result a disappointing performance,” the Fulham head coach said.
“We got what we deserved from the game, definitely. We played 20 minutes in all the game. There were small, small spells in the first half. The impact of the changes in the first half, the first 20 minutes we were controlling the game, on with Rodrigo (Muniz) and one with Kevin.
“We lost the game in the physicality, we didn’t handle the physicality of the Everton side – you can see throughout the game all the chances – even the disallowed goals they created – came from a second action from set-pieces, corners, long throws, corners or wide free-kicks. When these type of things happen, it’s not about a tactical point of view, you have to win a certain number of duels.
“In the Premier League, certain teams play one way and others play another. What is more disappointing is that our away form has not been the level of the past three seasons. We have to change it. We have always been very competitive and it was not the case this afternoon.
“You can lose a match because the opponent is better than you but not lose it because of the physicality of a football match. You have to reach a certain standard and that’s disappointed me more.”
