Liverpool FC team news vs. Man City – Injuries and available squad

Liverpool are set to be without three first-team players for this weekend’s Premier League clash against Man City, while Joe Gomez could be a doubt.

The Reds will be without Alisson, Jeremie Frimpong and long-term absentee Giovanni Leoni when they travel to the Etihad on Sunday afternoon.

Stefan Bajcetic and Jayden Danns, both plagued by injuries in recent seasons, are also unavailable as they continue their rehabilitation from long-term setbacks.

Here is who is out and who is available for Sunday’s clash against Man City:

• Alexander Isak (groin) – available

• Joe Gomez (unknown) – doubt

• Alisson (hamstring) – out

• Jeremie Frimpong (hamstring) – out

• Giovanni Leoni (ACL) – out

• Stefan Bajcetic (hamstring) – out

• Jayden Danns (hamstring) – out

The Premier League champions’ hopes of securing back-to-back wins at Man City for the first time since 2003 – and the first time in the league since 1991 – will be boosted by **Alexander Isak**‘s return to training on Friday afternoon.

But despite confirming Isak had overcome his recent groin injury, Slot admitted it will be a while before the forward is “back to the levels he was at three weeks ago.”

Academy defenders Rhys Williams and Lucas Pitt trained with the first-team at the AXA Training Centre on Friday, though neither player is expected to be included in Sunday’s match-day squad.

Their involvement in training did come with Gomez seemingly not part of the outdoor session, which could cast doubt over his place in the squad.

After suffering a sixth defeat in seven games against Crystal Palace last week, Slot has largely reverted to last season’s title-winning lineup for the recent victories against Aston Villa and Real Madrid – with Andy Robertson replacing Milos Kerkez at left-back.

The Dutchman said he will have to assess Robertson’s fitness ahead of this weekend’s trip to City, after he racked up 245 minutes of action across the last three games in a week.

“I had to take him off at the end of the [Real] game. For me, because I felt he was tired. But we have to wait and see,” said Slot on Friday.

“We had recovery the day after, it was a day off yesterday and now a two-day lead-in to City. So, let’s see where he is today.”
