Championship high-flyers Middlesbrough have expressed their frustration at losing manager Rob Edwards to top-flight Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 42-year-old will replace Vitor Pereira, who was sacked by the Premier League side after collecting just two points from the first ten games.
Wolves initially targeted former boss Gary O’Neil, but his withdrawal from the process on Monday saw attention turn to Edwards.
A fan favourite at Molineux, he made over 100 appearances for Wolves and briefly took caretaker charge in 2016.
