Leeds man compared with Nottingham Forest player as national team conflict builds

Leeds United forward Noah Okafor should take a look at Nottingham Forest’s Dan Ndoye when it comes to the Switzerland National Team.

[That’s according to Tages-Anzeiger](https://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/noah-okafor-warum-der-schweizer-im-nationalteam-fehlt-454840625789) and journalist Dominic Wuillemin. They cover the Leeds man today, as his dispute with Switzerland boss Murat Yakin continues.

Okafor has fanned the flames of that dispute this week with an interview in which he detailed the situation. He hasn’t played for his country since last year after previously falling out with Yakin during Euro 2024.

Neither party are currently backing down. There has also been criticism of Okafor in his homeland, with the Leeds man described as ‘not a team player’ in a long rant from journalist Tobias Wedermann yesterday.

Wuillemin now adds his opinion and explains how Okafor will ‘get a look at the other side’ on Sunday. That’s because he’s coming up against Dan Ndoye for Nottingham Forest. He’s a man whose very much on the inside of the tent for Switzerland.

The journalist reports that while the pair share similarities in playing style, that’s about it. While Okafor enjoyed a rapid, almost easy rise, Ndoye had to fight for his. And Wuillemin believes that could be a key difference.

While Ndoye’s career has been carefully planned, Okafor has bounced around and eventually ended up at Leeds after struggling in Italy. That’s not stopped his ‘great self-confidence’ though. And Wuillemin believes those around the Leeds man need to control that better. There’s no critical self-reflection.

And when that’s paired with bold statements, and a flashy lifestyle, it doesn’t sit well. It’s seen as a ‘lack of insight’ from all involved. Such a statement ‘would never come’ from Ndoye, though. That’s partly why he’s in the Switzerland squad and liked within it.

Okafor, meanwhile, often annoyed his Swiss teammates at Euro 2024 with his behaviour behind the scenes. He was ‘often in such a bad mood’ that it was hard to ignore. This was while they ‘nearly stormed to the semi-finals’.

Again, the feeling is that the Nottingham Forest man would never behave that way. And the Leeds forward could perhaps learn something from him as a result.
