Liverpool could be forced to enter the market for a new centre-back next summer amid interest from Bayern Munich in one of their top stars
Liverpool could see some big changes to their squad in the coming transfer windows - despite the Reds spending over £400m in the summer.
One area of the pitch the Anfield outfit must strengthen is the heart of their defence. Captain Virgil van Dijk has 18 months remaining on his contract while Ibrahima Konate’s deal runs out this summer with no agreement over an extension in sight.

Altschäffl continued: "His contract is expiring, and Bayern could sign him on a free transfer. We've heard that Konaté's agent is in talks with Real Madrid, PSG, and Bayern. He's a hot prospect on the market, and Bayern are interested."
Liverpool have made a new contract offer to Konate but the Frenchman wants a higher basic salary, not one that is heavily incentivised with bonuses. The defender has had a shaky start to the campaign but has started to find a bit of form again.
Liverpool weigh up move for Newcastle United defender Sven Botman
According to Caught Offside, Liverpool ‘remain interested’ in a potential move for Newcastle United defender Sven Botman. Liverpool said to have monitored the Dutchman closely but the Magpies are expected to open contract talks with the former Lille defender.
Newcastle want to do “all they can” to keep hold of Botman with Chelsea another Premier League rival who have been credited with an interest in the player. The Magpies have had a new sporting director and one of his priorities is to tie down Botman to a longer deal.
Alexander Isak joined Newcastle from Liverpool for a club-record £125m in the summer. The Sweden international named Botman as his best friend in football when he was still playing for the Magpies.
He said: “I’d probably say Sven Botman. He sits next to me in the locker room. He’s a great guy. We spend a lot of time together.”
