The Boston Celtics are 4-6 over the opening 10 games of the 2025-26 NBA season. Joe Mazzulla’s team currently sits 11th in the Eastern Conference, one spot outside of the play-in tournament. Celtics fans knew this season was going to be different from recent years. Jayson Tatum is expected to miss most, if not all, of the season with an Achilles tendon injury. Brad Stevens parted ways with multiple key rotation players. To top it all off, the rotation is full of young and unproven talent looking to establish themselves in the NBA. Despite the team’s rocky start, Jaylen Brown is choosing to remain optimistic. During his postgame news conference following Boston’s 110-123 loss to the Orlando Magic on Friday, Nov. 7, Brown discussed the inevitable learning curve the current roster is working through. “I think we’re growing. I think we’re getting better,” Brown said, via CLNS Media. “I’m liking what I’m seeing from certain guys, and that’s the most important thing — continuing to get better. And I know we’re not an organization or fanbase that makes excuses, especially in games that we can win, but it’s a part of the learning curve and process. It’s still early in the season, and we gotta continue to fight. I’m gonna continue to fight, continue to help my teammates get better, continue to give the game what it needs, but that’s a part of it.” Regardless of the Celtics’ struggles, Brown has been playing at an All-NBA level to begin the season. Over 10 games, he’s averaging 28.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists, shooting 53.5% from the field and 36.7% from deep. However, his high level of production hasn’t been enough to secure additional wins for his team. Nevertheless, the emergence of Josh Minott and the high-energy play from rookie Hugo Gonzalez should give fans cause for optimism. Boston is a rebuilding team. Tough losses are part of the process. Nevertheless, if the team can continue to make small improvements throughout the season, it will bode well for the future, even if it doesn’t significantly alter the outlook of the current campaign.
