Leeds United boss Daniel Farke loves a hostile football ground
The latest transfer talk from Elland Road as Leeds United prepare for the January transfer window.
Leeds United are already making plans for the January transfer window and are believed to be keen to add a wide player to their attacking options.
The final hours of the summer transfer window were dominated by a belated move for Leeds United and Wales star Harry Wilson and it appeared a deal had moved closer when the Whites submitted a deal sheet to the Premier League to all extra time to finalise the finer details of the agreement. However, the Cottagers opted against allowed Wilson to complete the switch to Elland Road and the Whites are now hoping to secure a winger in the new year.
One player that has been linked with a surprise move to Leeds is Celtic star Sebastian Tounekti, who only joined the Scottish Premiership champions in August and has scored two goals in 16 appearances during the first three months of the campaign. However, journalist Pete O’Rourke has given an update on the links with the Tunisia international and revealed Celtic will not to open to allowing Tounekti to depart when the January transfer window opens for business.
He told Football Insider: “It’s a strange link, I think, he only arrived at Celtic on deadline there when he joined from Hammarby. It would be a massive surprise if Celtic were even considering letting him go so early into his Celtic career as well. I don’t think Celtic will be open to letting the Tunisian international leave, and I don’t think they’d be doing themselves any favours with the fans. With everything that’s been going on between the Celtic fanbase and the board this season, they don’t want to do anything to invite more pressure onto themselves.
“We know Leeds are in the market for attacking reinforcements in January if they can find them. I just don’t see Celtic being open to selling to Tounekti in January and as I said, the player has only arrived at the club, I’m sure he’s happy to stay and continue playing for Celtic as well.”

Former Leeds United striker Robbie Fowler has claimed he felt he ‘forced to leave’ Liverpool when he joined the Whites in November 2021.
The 26-times capped England international was the latest of a number of high-profile signings made by David O’Leary as the Whites pushed the become one of the Premier League’s elite clubs on a regular basis around the turn of the millennium. The Toxteth-born striker scored 14 goals in 30 appearances during a 14-month stay at Elland Road when he went on to spend time with Manchester City before returning to Liverpool in January 2006.
However, Fowler has now revealed he wanted to spend his entire career with the club he held close to his heart and revealed the situation that led to his initial departure.
Speaking on the LifeJacket podcast, he said: “It was difficult. Ultimately, it was my decision, but I felt as though I was forced to leave. I left to go to Leeds, but Leeds weren’t the first that came in for me. The club [Liverpool] tried to sell me a few times. Newcastle was one, Villa was another.
“I remember sitting at my mate’s house one night. Phone goes, Gialluca Vialli at Chelsea. Said the club had agreed a fee, I was taken aback. I was happy at Liverpool. But they were trying to sell me. I knew my days were numbered. Leeds came in a few weeks later, and I knew I needed to leave. If I could have been at Liverpool my whole life, I would’ve taken that all day long.”
