The reason Marc Guehi is absent for Crystal Palace against Brighton

Crystal Palace vs Brighton confirmed team news: 5 ruled out and star man is '50-50'

Crystal Palace vs Brighton in the Premier League at Selhurst Park - Sunday, 2pm

Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi was a notable absentee as Oliver Glasner confirmed his line-up to face Brighton at Selhurst Park.

Guehi has been a key man for the Palace this term and has helped the Eagles form one of the most impressive defences in the Premier League.

Glasner though has had to juggle his squad as they compete in the Europa Conference League as well. On Thursday night they beat AZ Alkmaar 3-1 at Selhurst Park but it came at cost for Guehi, who sustained in foot injury in the closing stages of that win.

Glasber said his skipper is unable to walk and will also miss out for England during the international break.

‘Rusty’ Adam Wharton returns

On the plus side, England midfielder returns to the starting XI after a bout of illness. Wharton featured for the 30 minutes of the midweek win but Glasner admitted Wharton looked “rusty”. He also said that Wharton is unlikely to plat the full 90 against Brighton.

Crystal Palace XI: Henderson, Richards, Lacroix, Canvot, Munoz, Wharton, Lerma, Kamada, Mitchell, Sarr, Mateta. Subs: Matthews, Benitez, Pino, Uche, Clyne, Hughes, Esse, Sosa, Devenny.

Meanwhile, Fabian Hurzeler keeps the same Brighton XI that started the 3-0 win against Leeds United at the Amex Stadium last time out.

Six goal striker Danny Welbeck leads the line and will have a point to prove after he missed on a place in Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad.

Brighton XI: Verbruggen, Wieffer, Van Hecke, Dunk, Kadioglu, Baleba, Ayari, Minteh, Rutter, Gomez, Welbeck. Subs: Steele, Tzimas, Kostoulas, Boscagli, De Cuyper, Veltman, Coppola, Knight, Oriola.
