Josh Allen and his teammate Elijah Moore cannot say that they didn’t get the notice after the NFL handed out harsh punishment to both of them.

The Bills put on a statement show over the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday, like they always do against the Red in every regular season. But the celebration came at a steep price. The league is saying that Allen and Moore made a violent gesture during their touchdown celebration.

Allen scored a one-yard touchdown in the third quarter, giving Buffalo a 28-13 lead. What happened next landed both players in hot water with the league office.
Following the score, he and Moore faced each other and made finger-gun gestures in celebration, which is unsportsmanlike conduct according to the NFL rulebook. The League reportedly fined Allen $14,491 and Moore $13,888 for their violent gesture.

The fines come amid a league-wide crackdown on violent gestures of all types. It doesn’t matter how harmless the celebration looks. NFL officiating and rules analyst Walt Anderson told the AP in August that the league wants to work actively on this area. Players need to find other ways to celebrate their big moments.
This isn’t Allen’s first rodeo with fines for celebrations. He caught a $7,000 fine in 2019 for tossing a ball into the stands after a touchdown against Miami.
However, for Moore, the fine hits harder. The wideout appeared on just 17 plays in Week 9, yet one celebration cost him nearly $14K. He’s having a career-low season with just six catches for 106 yards and one rushing touchdown in 2025. Now he has left no option but to make his wallet lighter.
NFL Faces Backlash Over Josh Allen’s TD Celebration Penalty
The NFL is trying to stop players from celebrating regardless of context. But fans are upset and say the league is ruining the fun of the game. Some even ridiculed it as the “No Fun League.”
One fan joked, “Where does the supposed fine actually go. NFL slush fund? Is it donated to a shelter or food bank and written off in taxes?”
Another added, “No Fun League!”
A third claimed, “Next, they’ll fine them for thinking about celebrating. ???”
The fourth one noted, “The No Fun League. Stopped watching long time ago. Too much hyperbole.”
A fifth one remarked, “Ridiculous i didn’t know you get fined for celebrating, guess we’ll wait until we get in the locker room to celebrate.”
The league wants players to celebrate creatively without crossing the line. But a handful of folks have already stopped watching the game due to these boundaries.
Quite frankly, the league now walks a fine line between keeping order and killing the spontaneous moments that make football exciting.
