Reacting on X, The Athletic reporter Tanswell has praised Buendia after having 'one hell of a renaissance', shortly after he scored a 'sublime' free-kick against Bournemouth on Sunday.
Buendia now has six goal contributions in the Premier League this season, during a campaign where Villa have struggled overall. It's more impressive considering he's only started five games in England's top flight this term, and he's likely one of the first names on the team sheet due to his recent form.
Although a frustrating time for Elliott at Villa Park, he needs to take a look at what's happened to Buendia. Buendia played just 98 minutes in the Premier League during the 2024/2025 campaign after being sent out on loan, but he's remained patient and is now taking his opportunity with both hands.
Elliott is on loan from Liverpool, but there is a clause in his contract which could see Villa sign him on a permanent deal. It's an obligation to buy, with some reports suggesting it might be based on how many appearances he makes, and as it stands, he's unlikely to even get close to triggering any clause.
