The Green Bay Packers‘ offense was just dealt a massive hit. They lost star tight end Tucker Kraft for the season, and someone else will have to pick up the slack.
Some thought the Packers would have to make a move at the trade deadline. Others, however, believe they already had a suitable replacement in their ranks.
That might be the case with Jordan Love. When asked about replacing Kraft, the Packers quarterback gave backup Luke Musgrave a vote of confidence, adding that he can be as good as his predecessor with the extended opportunities:
“I think Luke does a lot of things well. I think his speed is something that is, I feel like not a lot of tight ends have that. It’s definitely a weapon. With Tuck being out, he’s going to have obviously a lot more reps, and it’s just maximizing all those reps and finding ways to improve and keep stacking it. He does a lot of good things. I think he’s got a lot better in the pass game, his route-running ability. I think his confidence for himself is pretty high right now,” Love said.

According to several reports, the Packers actually tried to trade for a replacement. They reportedly inquired about David Njoku, but the Cleveland Browns weren’t interested in parting ways with the veteran.
Musgrave and Kraft entered the league at the same time, and there was a time when they actually shared workloads almost evenly. Kraft obviously took a big leap, but the talent is there for Musgrave.
Kraft was Jordan Love’s preferred target in high-stakes situations. That being said, Musgrave is equally as familiar with Matt LaFleur’s offense, and he should be able to make a similar impact if he’s equally as involved.
Of course, it’s always tough to replace a star. And even though Musgrave will most definitely be in for a bigger workload going forward, it will take a collective effort to get this done. Everybody will have to do better, but Love will at least have plenty of options to choose from.
