Serie A interest offers very real prospect of massive Hammers sale

IF WEST HAM are going to shrug off the perpetual underachievements of the last season and a half then the mistakes of poor transfer judgement in successive windows need to be undone. At present the club are weighed down with several signings, some, but not all from the summer of 2024 intake who provide little but take a huge pay cheque and, for varying reasons, have not delivered to the cause.

Looking at those second string players still around the squad – Ward Prowse and Rodriguez are the first names that spring to mind – there are still players who take a heavyweight pay cheque but provide a lightweight contribution. Niclas Fullkrug has to come into the same category after spending close to half his time at West Ham on, or close to the treatment table.

Lovely guy, lovely attitude: Five years too late to London Stadium owing to his high-mileage legs: He’s just not upto week in, week out top tier football.

AC Milan could offer a solution to reverse West Ham’s ‘worst transfer of 2024’

A sale of Fullkrug in January would be massive indeed for West Ham. The big German has flopped terribly with just 3 goals to his name: Last week a couple of Premier League sides were rumoured to be interested but today’s news from Italy suggests Serie A interest from AC Milan is brewing. The Hardtackle.com are convinced:

“AC Milan are reportedly interested in signing 32-year-old German international Niclas Fullkrug from West Ham United.”

If the Italian side’s interest merely boosts competition for Wolves and Fulham who are already sniffing around then West Ham’s chances of reversing arguably Tim Steidten’s worst-ever deal then that can only be good news: Freeing up funds for a new striker signing might yet enable West Ham to put the bad old days of three thirty-something ‘dad’s army’ frontmen – just last year – finally behind them.
