Sean Dyche has told Nottingham Forest ace Morgan Gibbs-White there is no reason he cannot win back his place in the England squad.

The Reds’ No.10 has been left out of Thomas Tuchel’s group for the upcoming fixtures. But he responded in the right way to any sense of disappointment by helping his team to an important 3-1 win over Leeds United.

Gibbs-White headed in Forest’s second to make it three goals in five games under Dyche. He could have increased his tally further had he put a penalty away in Thursday night’s 0-0 Europa League draw away to Sturm Graz.

It has been a difficult start to the season for the 25-year-old as he has struggled for form. However, Dyche is confident he can get back to his best.

“He's had unfair question marks, and fairly or unfairly is irrelevant,” Dyche said of Gibbs-White. “We all know what makes a story. So therefore the story is out there. I said to him: 'Don't worry about what's gone, just keep working and enjoy what we're doing.’

“Three in five is a pretty decent marker. He missed a penalty the other night, if he scores that it's four in five and all of a sudden everyone's talking about him.

“But he's a good player. I want him to get in the air. I want him to go and score goals. I want him to enjoy what he's doing.

“Enjoying is reinforced, quite obviously, when you win games. I used to love that feeling - when you've worked hard, you look around the dressing room, everyone's worked hard, people on the bench, everyone's involved, and then you win. That's a great feeling.

“But now we're hungry for more. Don't just accept that like: 'Oh well, that's all right.’

“It's not all right. All right gets you nothing if you want to achieve things, all right is going to get you nothing. So we push for more than all right.”

Ibrahim Sangare had brought the hosts level after they had fallen behind in the 13th minute at the City Ground. Gibbs-White then put them in front before Elliot Anderson made sure of the three points when he scored from the spot late on.

Anderson has once again made the cut for England. But with so many good players competing for places with the Three Lions, Dyche has said it shouldn’t be forgotten how well Gibbs-White did to get called up in the first place.

“He did well to get in it. People forget that,” the Reds boss said. “People say: 'Oh well, he must be really disappointed.’ But he got in it, so it doesn't mean he can't get in it again.

“It is getting himself back to the basics of what he does, that energy. I call it infectious, you know, the on-pitch presence and being infectious around the group, then scoring goals and arriving as he did.

“That's two of those types of goals he’s scored. I’m very pleased for him and just want him to keep playing with a smile.”
