Jamie Carragher Leeds United
Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher has made some very interesting comments about Leeds United on Sunday afternoon. Daniel Farke’s men failed to get a result away to Nottingham Forest.
The Whites are now just one point above the relegation zone entering the international break. And news has already emerged over Daniel Farke and his future at the club. Brendan Rodgers is tipped to be the next candidate to take over at Elland Road.

Sunday was yet another day that looked like everything went wrong for Daniel Farke. From his team selection to his tactics in the game, nothing seemed to be clicking. Forest dominated for large parts of the game while Leeds posed close to zero threat as they sat off and allowed Sean Dyche’s side to dominate the game in attacking areas.
Lukas Nmecha scored first, before Forest equalized just two minutes later. The home side turned the game on its head with two goals in the second half.
Daniel Farke’s day went from bad to worse as his second half substitute Jack Harrison brought down Omari Hutchinson for the penalty that sealed the game.
Jamie Carragher poses huge question to Leeds United fans
Earlier in the day, Jamie Carragher asked some serious questions about Leeds this season. The former Liverpool man thinks it is baffling that the Whites are having a worse season than fellow promoted side Sunderland, despite being the superior team in the Championship.
“Where the pressure will come from is their own supporters, who will be, ‘Why can’t that be us [Sunderland]?” he said on Sky Sports Main Event.
“It’s not just Sunderland being one of the promoted teams, it’s because they were a long way behind Leeds in the Championship last season.
“Looking at Sunderland, it’s a brilliant story for the Premier League, but Leeds are probably getting it in the neck from their supporters right now looking at Sunderland because, as we know, promoted teams find things tough, but right now Leeds aren’t in the bottom three and that’s the aim of the game.”
The Whites finished 24 points above Sunderland in the Championship last season, with the Black Cats winning the play-off final to secure promotion. Last season, Leeds dominated both games against Sunderland, picking up four points.
49ers need to take blame for poor summer window
It is very clear now that the difference between the two sides in the Premier League is the recruitment in the summer. While Sunderland went all out securing quality targets, Leeds were bargain hunting. The Black Cats managed to add classy midfielder Granit Xhaka, and one of the best keepers this season in Robin Roefs. Sunderland have conceded 10 goals this season in comparison to Leeds’ 20 – a staggering difference considering the Mackems let in 14 more goals than Leeds last season. The gulf between the teams now is a painful watch for Leeds fans, with Carragher’s words really hitting home.
The investment in personnel has showed – with Sunderland managing to more than compete with the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal, while Leeds have been dominated by Brighton and Nottingham Forest. The 49ers failed in the summer, and should have done better. With the January window coming up, the ball is in the owners’ court.
