The Premier League have clarified Manchester City's penalty vs Liverpool
The Premier League have confirmed that Jeremy Doku WAS fouled as were awarded a controversial penalty vs at the Etihad Stadium.
City star Doku was unceremoniously taken down by Reds goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili in the first half and while the spot-kick was not awarded immediately, referee Chris Kavanagh changed his mind upon review.
A statement from the shortly after the incident read: "After review, the referee overturned the original decision of no penalty to City. Referee announcement: 'After review, the goalkeeper commits a foul challenge on the attacker, the final decision is penalty.'"
pundit Danny Murphy was not entirely convinced by the decision however - even after review. He said: "There's not enough contact from the keeper for me."
Liverpool captain also made his complaints known as he sarcastically applauded Kavanagh after the decision.

And despite the controvery, saw his effort saved by Mamardashvili. There was then a question over whether the Gerogian had stayed on his line but the save was seemingly legal.
The Norwegian had come into the game in electric form for Manchester City this season. The 25-year-old had scored 18 goals in just 14 appearances in all competitions so far.
Mamardashvili however was under pressure having had a mixed start to life at Anfield. But former striker Dion Dublin was full of praise for the former Valencia man for his save.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, he said: "That is a really good save! The keeper absolutely launches himself to the left and made it look very easy.
"It is a good penalty that is probably going in to the side netting but he has read it. It is probably on his water bottle!"
In the end, Haaland ensured that his name was on the scoresheet after all with just under half an hour of the game played. He headed home a brilliant cross from Matheus Nunes and celebrated by kicking the corner flag.
Reds captain Van Dijk thought he had levelled for his side with his own brilliant header, only for the strike to be ruled out due to Andrew Robertson being offside in the goalkeeper's view.
Liverpool will be back in action after the international break as they take on at Anfield. Meanwhile, City are set to take a trip to in a fortnight's time.
