Jeremy Doku was unstoppable in Manchester City's 3-0 win over Liverpool, and the Belgian winger forced Gary Neville to break tradition. He gave Arne Slot's defenders a torrid time and hit one of the goals of the season.
The 23-year-old picked up where he left off after starring in a 4-1 win over Borussia Dortmund midweek and was a constant threat, his direct approach proving a nightmare for the likes of Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate. While Mohamed Salah put in a haphazard performance for the Reds, he dazzled for the Cityzens as they eased to victory over the defending champions, whose crown is slipping early doors.
Erling Haaland saw a penalty denied by Giorgi Mamardashvili but made no mistake with a looping header in the 29th minute before Nico Gonzalez made it two with a deflected effort in the 45+3rd minute. But it was Doku who stole the show every time he got on the ball, easing his way past the opposition with a dribbling display that wowed fans.
Doku got his deserved goal in the 633rd minute in some style, surging towards goal before shifting inside and curling the ball into the top corner of Mamardashvili's goal. He was unplayable and Neville is one of many who were astounded by his display.

Neville described Doku's goal as dazzling, and that summed up his evening as a whole as he ran the Reds ragged with his agility and direct approach. It was after he'd struck City's third that he made apparent history.
Doku was named man of the match around the hour mark, and Neville claimed that he didn't think he'd ever gone that early to handing out the award. But it was deserved, given he was the star of the show, always with his foot on the gas, and the feeling of inevitability felt when Haaland has a goalscoring opportunity is replicated each time the Belgian races down the channel.
"It is dazzling from Doku. I've never given the man-of-the-match award out after 62 minutes, but I think I will today. He has been sensational," Neville on Sky Sports commentary.
It hasn't been the easiest of spells in Manchester for Doku after he arrived from Stade Rennais in the summer of 2023 for £55.5 million due to recurring injury issues. But he's remained fit so far this season, and it's paid dividends as he's proving to be one of Guardiola's most important players.

There are some of the very best wingers in the world plying their trade in the Premier League. Still, it's tough to argue against Doku being the cream of the crop, especially after putting in world-class performances such as the one that saw him take centre stage against Liverpool. City fans are in no doubt that he is one of the very best wingers in world football.
Doku was electric, completing 7 of 8 dribble attempts and 11 of 14 ground duels. It's easy to highlight statistics, but he is also one of the most aesthetically pleasing players to watch on the ball.
One fan thinks he's the number one winger in world football:
"Doku is the best winger in the world!!!"
A Liverpool fan shed light on the suffering endured coming up against the Belgium international:
"Look at the way Doku is bullying us man this is the best winger in the world right now."
One fan suggested he's Ballon d'Or worthy:
"Doku is the best player in the world."
Another added:
"Doku is genuinely one of the best wingers in the world."
One fan reckons he is proving to be one of the most difficult wingers to defend against:
"Doku has been one of the best wingers in the world this season. So unpredictable!"
Tactics analyst Adrian Clarke called him 'unplayable' in the first half:
"Doku 10/10 unplayable in that 1st half! This is a 2-0 battering from City. Liverpool miles off it."
City's win means they move back up to second in the Premier League table, four points behind Arsenal, who were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw by Sunderland on Saturday. If Guardiola's men are to catch the Gunners, they will need Doku to keep up his stellar showings that have helped propel the Sky Blues back into the title equation and earned him shouts as one of the world's best wingers.
