“And all of them of a corresponding quality. All of that was quite exciting for him. It was important that Arne Slot spoke with Florian. He explained his value to him, including his value to the future team, and how he envisions the collaboration. And that convinced Florian.”
The German midfielder had plenty of options on the table in the summer transfer window, but he chose to join the Premier League club after being convinced by the Liverpool manager. Slot put forward a clear plan in front of the player regarding his role and development, and he was convinced by it.
The 22-year-old was outstanding for Bayer Leverkusen in Germany, and there is no doubt that he is one of the best young players in the world. He will look to get back to that level once again. Wirtz is adapting to the Premier League slowly, and it will be interesting to see if he can make a defining impact during the second half of the season.
