Wolves have the chance to freshen up their ranks and sign some players in the January transfer window

Wolves face a battle for survival in the Premier League this season. They are inside the drop zone and risk dropping back into the Championship if they aren’t careful. The Midlands outfit have endured a tough start to the campaign and have recently sacked Vitor Pereira.

Pereira was appointed at Molineux last winter to replace Gary O’Neil and managed to keep them up with relative ease last term. However, things didn’t go to plan for him after that and he has since been given the chop. Here is a look at how Wolves’ team could look after the January transfer window...

Wolves’s potential goalkeeper and defence in 2026

Wolves are said to be interested in £25 million-rated Lazio goalkeeper Christos Mandas, according to Tuttomercatoweb. The Greece international, 24, has two caps to his name and has been on the books of his curent club since 2024. He would battle it out with Sam Johnstone and Jose Sa for the number one spot.

Right-back Matt Doherty joined on a free transfer a couple of years ago and he likes to get up and down the right flank of defence. He is an experienced player and will be a useful character to have in and around the dressing room. On the other flank, left-back Hugo Bueno signed for nothing back in 2019 and was loaned out to Feyenoord in the last campaign to get some experience before forcing his way back into the plans.

In the heart of defence, Wolves forked out £8.5m to land Santiago Bueno from Girona in 2023. Meanwhile, Ladislav Krejci is on loan from Girona with a view to buy for £26m. He was brought in to boost the defensive department and has made a pretty positive impression.

Wolves’ potential midfield and attack in 2026

Wolves paid approximately £17m to snap up Marshall Munetsi from Stade de Reims in February. The 29-year-old has since been ever-present and has enjoyed plenty of game time. He has played 35 games for Zimbabwe so far in his career.

Spanish news outlet Marca claimed that Casado was on Pereira’s radar last summer. It remains to be seen whether that interest still lingers now following the Portuguese head coach’s departure. His valuation is said to be around the £53m mark which may be too steep, especially for a team who could go down.

TEAMtalk suggested in October that Wolves were admirers of Rangers’ £25m-rated Nicolas Raskin. However, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Burnley were also mentioned as possible suitors. His long-term situation with the Gers is up in the air.

Deportivo la Coruna winger Yeremay Hernandez is said to be on the radar for a whopping £53m. The 22-year-old has been playing his football at Estadio Riazor since being a youngster back in 2017. On the other side, Wolves forked out an initial £15m to secure Jhon Arias’ services. Meanwhile, striker Jorgen Strand Larsen cost £23m after his loan spell.

Wolves line-up after January window in full: Mandas; Doherty, Bueno, Krejci, Bueno; Brazkho, Casado, Raskin; Hernandez, Arias; Larsen.
