Arsenal, Manchester United, Barcelona face frustration in pursuit of 22-year-old Chelsea-linked …

Karl Etta Eyong’s dream of playing for Chelsea could lead to several other of his big suitors face disappointment in the pursuit.

Karl Etta Eyong has made a big mark on proceedings in La Liga since his move to Levante from Villarreal. The La Liga side him in a €3 million during the summer, as the 22-year-old has since transformed into a goalscoring striker for his side.

His six goals so far place him third on the top scorer charts in La Liga, as one of his five strikes came for Villarreal before he made his move. However, Levante are fearing he could leave as soon as January as a host of top clubs are already looking into signing the striker, with Chelsea among those credited with an interest.

Barcelona are also interested in the striker alongside Arsenal and Manchester United, with those clubs looking into the market for solutions to improve their frontline. The Gunners, for instance, could dip into the market for a new forward if the likes of Gabriel Jesus end up leaving, although they are the least likely clubs to make a big splash on a new striker.

Barcelona are also keen on Etta Eyong as a potential option to improve their frontline, as they also seek a long-term replacement for veteran striker Robert Lewandowski. It might be the case that they are looking at the 22-year-old striker as an additional option in their attack rather than the possible replacement for the Polish star.

Manchester United are also keen, as they could explore the market for a new striker who could add cover to Benjamin Sesko as well as replace Joshua Zirkzee if the Dutchman ends up leaving. Those clubs like the Red Devils, Arsenal and Barcelona could now face disappointment in the race for the 22-year-old, who might have revealed his preference.

Etta Eyong insisted that it was his ‘dream’ to play for Chelsea in the future, as this is a club he grew up watching. His comments on Give Me Sport revealed that the young striker wants to fulfill his dream of playing for the Blues.

Etta Eyong said, “Growing up, Chelsea was the English team I probably watched the most because of Drogba, and Eto’o was there a year as well. Chelsea have often signed incredible African players. There are so many big clubs in England, but as for [joining] Chelsea, why not? It would be a dream for me to play for Chelsea.”

While Chelsea are indeed credited with an interest in Etta Eyong, it remains to be seen whether they dip into the market for a new striker. Chelsea are prioritising a new defender in the winter window, which could place the need for Etta Eyong on the back burner.
