Cameras caught the three-time Super Bowl champion clapping ahead of the game, as the Current, the No. 1 team in the league, took on Gotham FC in the quarterfinals.
Despite not being scheduled to play this week, Mahomes has had a busy weekend. First, he was ESPN’s guest picker on College Gameday Saturday morning. He watched his former team beat the BYU Cougars 29-7, behind Behren Morton (17 of 32 for 219 yards and one touchdown) and Cameron Dickey’s (23 carries for 121 yards and one touchdown) big performances.
He went 7-2 on nine selections, which matched comedian Nate Bargatze’s record this season, established two weeks ago.

A day later, the Kansas City Chiefs superstar attended his Current team’s game. He joined the ownership group alongside his wife, Brittany, in 2022, becoming the first active NFL player with equity in an NWSL team.
Mahomes would clash with New York Giants all-time great Eli Manning, who is an investor in Gotham FC.

The Current posted a record-breaking season in which they won 21 of their 26 games, which included a 17-game unbeaten run. They took a 21-point advantage over the second-seeded team, the Washington Spirit.
After a 28-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 9, Mahomes and the Chiefs had a week to rest. He is in good spirits and looks ready to return to the field. The Chiefs will clash against the Denver Broncos (8-2) in one of the best duels of Week 11.
