None of Everton’s strikers appear to be able to hit the target, but there’s one player David Moyes should sign that would fix that problem immediately.
Thierno Barry still hasn’t scored for Everton, while Beto has just one goal all season. Clearly, that’s not sustainable if the Toffees want to steer clear of a relegation battle this year.
Moyes has admitted Barry is adjusting to life at Everton, and there was a marked improvement from the young forward against Fulham despite the goal drought continuing.
While there’s plenty of talk around Richarlison returning to Everton in January, there’s actually a much cheaper option out there who has been banging in the goals in the Championship this season.

Haji Wright would be perfect for Everton
Everton have been linked with Ivan Toney lately, as well as Dusan Vlahovic, Joshua Zirkzee, and the lesser-known Midtjylland striker Franculino Dju. But, it’s Haji Wright that the Toffees should be focusing their attention on.
The USA international has scored nine goals this season for high-flying Coventry City and he looks like a forward brimming with confidence right now. That’s something Everton’s current striker options, and most of their targets, are seriously lacking.
Of course, there are certain mitigating factors, like the fact that Wright is playing in the second tier and is yet to prove himself in the Premier League. But, he’s scored a wide range of different goals using his head and his feet, is a very physical player, and has performed on the international stage, too.
He’s obviously chomping at the bit to play at the top level, especially ahead of the World Cup next summer in his home nation.

We also know Moyes is eager to shop in the Championship again after a number of successful second tier acquisitions in the past, and Wright fits the bill perfectly as a player who is ready to step up.
So far this term, he’s got nine goals from an xG of 7.9 and is registering 0.96 shots on target per 90 minutes. The only real concern is the fact Wright’s average of 1.73 shot-creating actions per 90 is pretty low, but clearly, as long as he has good service, he is finding the back of the net.

Frank Lampard will fight to keep Coventry City star
David Moyes has told Dan Friedkin to back him in the transfer window, with direct reference to attracting big names. Admittedly, Haji Wright is not that big a name, but he will still be a difficult signing to get across the line.
For a start, Coventry City are top of the Championship table and look destined for promotion. There’s every chance Wright wants to stay put and ensure that happens, while the Sky Blues will naturally be reluctant to lose their talismanic striker.
Frank Lampard in particular will not want to see Wright leave. One of the main reasons Coventry didn’t sign many players in the summer is that Lampard was desperate to keep his best players at the club as a priority, with Wright and teammate Jack Rudoni at the heart of that.
He rates Wright very highly indeed. Lampard previously described Wright as a ‘big player’ and added that his performances are ‘impressive’ and ‘outstanding’.
Discussing Wright’s key features, Lampard added: “His work ethic, competing for headers, then when the ball was at his feet and when he had space, or didn’t have space, he moves it so well.”
Obviously, David Moyes would love to have someone who can do all of that. But, so would any manager, and it’ll be an expensive fight to tempt him away; the lure of Premier League football may just be enough to get the player to push for the move, though.
