Canvot starred on his full Premier League debut against Palace’s rivals Brighton, keeping Yankuba Minteh quiet.
The 19-year-old made eight clearances, four recoveries and was not dribbled past in an imposing display, stepping up impressively amid the absence of captain Marc Guehi.
Guehi missed the game with an ankle injury, with Canvot filling in on the left of the back three – the opposite side to his footedness.
The France Under-21 international joined Palace from Toulouse in the summer for around £20 million, and with Guehi expected to leave at the end of the season, Canvot could be a ready-made replacement waiting in the wings.
“I spoke to the back three yesterday about where they feel most comfortable and Jaydee said he feels comfortable playing on the left side,” Glasner explained.
“It’s always best if we change players man-for-man instead of changing three or four positions.
“When you're 19 and when you get your debut in the Premier League, you should be delighted. Now his dreams have come true and that's what he showed.
“We always say, play with your strengths because that's why you are here, that's why you are in the squad.
“I don't know if he knows about the rivalry, but maybe he doesn't understand everything, and sometimes it's good that they don't understand everything.
“I was happy with his performance against Larnaca, despite his mistake that led to a goal. He had an excellent game at Liverpool. I see him in training, what he can do. That's also the reason why we signed him.
“We see he has all the hardware you need as a centre-back. He has pace, he's tall. We have to work on his heading, especially in attack.
“He's comfortable in the build-up. If he gets more confidence, he's even better in the build-up than what he showed today.
“He can also drive into the midfield. That's what we could see. It’s about giving him time, step by step, to help him to become the best Jaydee Canvot he can be."
