Bears 24, Giants 20: Caleb Williams leads Bears back from 10-point deficit for sixth win

CHICAGO — No situation ever seems to worry Bears quarterback Caleb Williams. And for the second straight week, he’s engineered a game-winning drive under the two-minute warning.

On second-and-8 from the Giants’ 17 with 1:54 left in the fourth quarter, Williams bootlegged to his left, found a running lane down the sideline and ran nearly untouched into the end zone. The touchdown gave the Bears their first lead in 41 minutes of game time.

Williams’ passing line was relatively unimpressive, but the tape will tell a different story. He finished 20-for-36 passing for 220 yards with one two-yard touchdown to Rome Odunze. That came with 3:56 left in the fourth quarter.

But Williams’ low completion rate (55.7 percent) was the result of a tough day in the drops department by his receivers. Olamide Zaccheaus led the pack with three.

For the Giants, QB Jaxson Dart left in the fourth quarter with a concussion. Russell Wilson replaced Dart and finished 3-for-7 and was sacked twice.

Have a day, Caleb Williams. The numbers don’t show it. But on a cold, wet day full of drops from his receivers, Williams might have had his best game this season. He was the Bears’ best playmaker with his arm and legs. Everything he did in the fourth quarter felt like a highlight as the Bears came back from a 10-point deficit.

At some point, the Bears had to start winning games because of Caleb Williams. Odd stat line aside, that was the case on Sunday. The offense wasn’t pretty throughout the day, but Williams came through when he needed to most, calling his own number twice for massive runs of 29 and 17 yards.

Are the Bears are great team? No. Not yet. Are the Bears a good team? Yes. Why? Because they NEVER quit. Once again the Chicago Bears find a way to win a game that in years past they would most definitely lose. Caleb Williams was a force today that would not be denied. He deserved that win. And he got it.
