Dramatic pictures show armed officers on NFL sideline for Donald Trump

The NFL sideline looked very different at Northwest Stadium ahead of the Washington Commanders' home game against the Detroit Lions.

Armed officers patrolled the sidelines ahead of the game as players warmed up ahead of President Donald Trump attending the game. Trump did not arrive until the game was well underway, but the warmups of players still played out against a backdrop of heavy security presence never normally seen at games.

Fans were also impacted by the big security operation, being forced to pass through airport-style security screening generating big queues and longer wait times outside. It came as Karoline Leavitt weighed in on Trump's desire for Washington's new stadium to be named after him.
