Electrifying TDs just proved Jaguars have secret weapon in Parker Washington

Early in the Week 10 game against the Houston Texans, wide receiver Parker Washington gave the Jacksonville Jaguars a 10-0 lead when he scored a touchdown off a Dennis Gardeck fumble recovery. He followed that up when he had an electrifying return for a touchdown.

Jarrian Jones picked off Davis Mills on Houston's first possession. Following the turnover, Cam Little scored the Jags' first three points of the game when he nailed a 32-yard field goal. They were just getting started.

Parker Washington scored 14 points for the Jaguars

After Dennis Gardeck forced the fumble, Parker Washington caught a seven-yard touchdown pass to cap off a five-play, 17-yard drive. The Jacksonville defense then forced the Texans to punt, and Washington had another chance to shine, this time on special teams.

The third-year receiver backpedaled to put himself in a position to reel in the football. Once he got it, he proceeded to return the punt 67 yards to put the Jaguars up 17-0.

The Texans managed to make a field goal on the following drive to make it 17-3, but nobody will deny that Jacksonville is dominant in all three phases of this divisional matchup in the first half.

The Jaguars have a Swiss Army Knife in Parker Washington

Even if Parker Washington doesn't get the ball again in Week 10, it won't matter. He already did enough to put the Jaguars in a position to win. Then again, based on how things have played out, they want to keep him getting involved on both offense and special teams.

Keep in mind that Washington hasn't gotten many opportunities this season because of how stacked Jacksonville is at receiver. However, injuries in recent weeks to Dyami Brown and Brian Thomas Jr. have pressed him into action. In fact, the former Penn State Nittany Lion racked up a season-best eight receptions for 90 yards against the Las Vegas Raiders the prior week. Both Thomas and Brown left that game with injuries.

Although Washington can line up inside or outside, he's a better fit to play in the slot. That's probably why head coach Liam Coen told the press corps that the recently traded Jakobi Meyers would mostly line up in the boundaries (at least early on), and Washington would stay inside.

So far, the decision is paying off, and Parker Washington is quickly showing that he's too talented to have an extended role as a receiver and a returner.
