Trump has had an interesting relationship with the Commanders in recent times. He lashed out at the franchise for not changing its name to the old Redskins moniker, and threatened to block the team from building its new stadium without the name change.
But now, Trump has not only avoided intervention but is pushing for his name to be memorialized with the stadium. As he attended the Lions-Commanders clash, Trump made a surprising appearance in the broadcast booth.
He appeared alongside FOX Sports’ Kenny Albert and Jonathan Vilma and discussed numerous topics. Ultimately though, the rogue appearance was divisive.
“Why tf is trump on Fox talking football,” one fan posted while another wrote: “NFL on Fox interviewing Trump just made me never want to watch football again. Well done.”

“This whole thing is gross, what are we doing this for,” wrote another. Others went more direct: “I don't want to hear from this fascist POS . Just let me watch football. Sports is supposed to be my escape from this shit.”
“Fox is interviewing Trump during the Lions-Commanders game. Where are all the "Keep politics out of sports" people right now?” quipped another. Several fans called out the hypocristy of the reaction between Trump and Taylor Swift on NFL coverage, given neither party is to do with the league: “I rather see Taylor Swift on NFL than the Donald Trump.”
Another posted: “I’m assuming that everyone who gets pissed off every time the NFL shows Taylor Swift for five seconds at a Chiefs game will be REALLY mad that Trump has taken over the broadcast booth at the #DETvsWA game.”
