It took just one game for Jarrian Jones to show the Jaguars his true value

Week 10 is a huge game for the Jacksonville Jaguars, one that is a must-win to remain in playoff contention. Heading into the game, the Jags trailed the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC South standings, but are hot on their heels in pursuit of the lead.

Last week, the Jags narrowly defeated the Las Vegas Raiders in overtime, and are looking to build on that momentum with another win... this time, one that's even more important, as it's against another divisional rival. The Houston Texans are trailing in third for the AFC South standings, but the more the Jaguars can keep up with the Colts, the closer they'll be to the playoffs.

Thankfully, the Jaguars got off to an incredibly strong start, getting to a quick 10-0 lead thanks to back-to-back turnovers from the Texans. The first score was thanks to a crazy interception by cornerback Jarrian Jones, his first of the season.

Jarrian Jones made an instant impact for the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10

This could easily be seen as a make-or-break game for Jones, and he came out ready to prove he deserves to stay in Jacksonville. Earlier this season, Jones was benched in favor of Montaric Brown and Travis Hunter.

However, Jourdan Lewis and Hunter are injured, while Brown is playing in the boundaries. Lewis was ruled out for Week 10, while Hunter is on injured reserve. That gave Jones a big opportunity, and he wasted no time making a huge, explosive play. The Texans started the game receiving the ball, but Jones intercepted the ball on their first drive, before they could even get to three-and-out.

That interception led to a field goal, putting Jacksonville on the board early. This was not only a big play for the Jaguars, but arguably, for Jones' future, too. It had been rumored that he would end up on the trade block. To be clear, Jones is not a bad CB; he just hasn't been a great one, either. The fact that he's a better fit in the slot than the perimeter is partly why he showed out against the Texans.

But could this be the start of his redemption arc? Jones still has a lot of promise and has the talent and potential to claw his way back to a starting spot on this defense. A big part of the reason that he's struggled is that Jones does better in man coverage, which doesn't fit as well in Anthony Campanile's scheme.

That doesn't change who Jones is: a young, raw, talented corner with a lot of athleticism and the ability to make big plays. He proved that in Week 10, before the first half had even ended. It's clearly too early to count him out in Jacksonville, with Jones fighting for the win, and to show that he still has what it takes.
