Seahawks Injury Updates Following Their Week 10 Win Over Arizona

The Seahawks rolled to another impressive victory on Sunday, beating the Cardinals 44-22 to improve to 7-2 on the season, but they had to play the game without one of their veteran leaders, defensive tackle Jarran Reed.

Reed was placed on injured reserve on Saturday after initially not having a game status designation on Friday, and following Sunday's game, Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald provided some clarity on the situation.

Reed, it turns out, had surgery on a wrist injury following Seattle's Week 7 win over the Texans, then after the bye week was able to make it back for last week's win over the Washington Commanders. Reed went through the practice week as a full participant and was expecting to play in this game as well, but further imaging of his hand late in the week revealed a setback that will require another surgery.

"So J-Reed, the game going into the bye, what was that Houston, at the end of that game he hurt his wrist, so he had an operation during the bye," Macdonald said. "Look, this just tells you how tough this guy is. He's like an all-time physically tough player, mentally, all of the above. Comes back in two weeks and plays after basically breaking something in his hand or wrist. We thought it was good to go. We thought it was ready, but we had a setback in the game. It just tells you how tough he is. He was thinking throughout the week, 'Shoot, my hand is sore.' So we got it re-imaged and turns out he has to have another operation, so it's a setback for him. Your heart goes out to him. It's some adversity for him. But hopefully this will really give him some to stabilize it and alleviate the pain. First you're concerned about him for the long run, and then when he can come back and he can come back and play great football for us."
