Pittsburgh Steelers CB Darius Slay suffered an injury during the team’s Week 10 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Slay was slow to get up after a Kimani Vidal run in the second quarter and was tended to by trainers on the field. Slay appeared to take a shot to the head in a case of friendly fire from S Kyle Dugger. Slay walked off the field flanked by members of Pittsburgh’s medical staff.
Per Steelers’ senior director of communications Burt Lauten, Slay is being evaluated for a possible concussion and is questionable to return.

Slay has left numerous games this season with bumps and bruises, causing him to miss snaps. But he hasn’t been inactive for a game yet and serves as an important piece of Pittsburgh’s secondary, especially with Jalen Ramsey moving to safety. Slay was replaced by CB James Pierre.
In Week 9, Slay had five tackles against the Indianapolis Colts. In his first season in Pittsburgh, Slay has 32 total tackles, three passes defensed and a fumble recovery. He had three total tackles against the Chargers before leaving with the injury.
Per KDKA’s Richie Walsh, Slay headed to the locker room. He’ll likely undergo a battery of tests to further check for a concussion after being evaluated briefly in the blue medical tent. It was helmet-to-helmet contact from Dugger to Slay, so it’s not a surprise that the team is checking for a concussion.
If Slay passes his concussion test, he could return to the game. In place of Slay, Pierre made a key tackle to stop a Chargers’ first down a few plays after Slay exited.
