The Pittsburgh Steelers missed an interception here, a deep completion there, and next thing you know they are down 12-3 at halftime to the Los Angeles Chargers. The defense has held up okay, but the offense has given it absolutely no help with a safety, a three and out, and an interception. For the cherry on top, Chris Boswell missed a 45-yard field goal attempt.
For weeks, the offense was playing well and the defense was falling apart, but the script has flipped over the last few weeks. The defense hasn’t forced a turnover yet, and that’s part of the reason why the game looks the way it does entering the second half.
Aaron Rodgers has completed seven of his 14 pass attempts for 64 yards and an interception while taking two sacks. Jaylen Warren has gained 28 yards on seven carries. That’s the extent of the Steelers’ offense, and they have just three points to show for it.
The defense has a tall task ahead of it to prevent this game from getting completely out of hand on the first drive of the second half.
1stH recap notes:
Steelers 0-6 on 3rd down
Too much negativity. Sacks & penalties could not overcome
Safety was hard to watch
Boswell one long FG, one miss
2 INT opps for Steelers, got neither
AR not sharp at all down the field. ONE int, almost another.
2 big plays…
