ANDONI Iraola wants to use the [Cherries](http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/cherries/clubnews/?ref=au)’ disappointing results at Manchester City and Aston Villa in a ‘positive’ way, saying both games served as a warning for the team.

Iraola was not happy with his side’s performance particularly in the first half at Villa Park, describing it as ‘very poor’.

He bemoaned a lack of aggression in their usually energetic press and said any drop in confidence at any point in the game transmitted across the team and cost them.

The defeat at Villa was their third of the campaign across 11 matches, with the other losses coming at City and Liverpool.

But Iraola said they won’t disregard those results as being against top teams, and they must learn from them.

He said: “I will try to find the reasons. I think we've been not as aggressive in our press.

“I think we've been a little bit scared. We haven't been as good winning the duels. Today, even the second balls.

“We were also, at the beginning of the game, everyone was slipping, it has started raining and we were not feeling confident defending duels and at the end we transmit, if one is not fully ready, loses duels.

“There is a transmission of these feelings to the teammates.

“And until we reset at half time, we haven't talked.

“I think it has cost us a lot, but I would like to use it in a positive way. We cannot just say no, they were City away, Villa away, places where it's very difficult to get something and we are fine.

“No, I think there are warnings for us and we have to accept it because we've conceded three set plays that obviously you never want things that we've been doing very well because I think we've only conceded set plays against Villa and against Leeds.

“But when you start not doing these things well, and this is not just one thing, I think we have to review very well and get the game going. Because competition is so tough that you cannot lose the small things because you will pay for it.”
