Crystal Palace vs Brighton confirmed team news: 5 ruled out and star man is '50-50'
Reaction from Brighton’s 0-0 Premier League draw at Crystal Palace
Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler wants a time restriction on throw-ins after their 0-0 draw with old rivals Crystal Palace.
The Seagulls were forced to defend numerous long-throws as Crystal Palace’s Colombian midfielder Jefferson Lerma launched throw after throw in the Brighton box.
Hurzeler said his team defended well against the tactic but complained about the length of time it takes for each throw to be taken.
“It stops the rhythm,” said Hurzeler to Sky Sports after the match.” It takes so much time to throw. Too much time.
“We need another rule because it's always a minute. I hope we can find change.
“We restrict time with the goalkeeper, eight seconds, that's good."
Brighton skipper Lewis Dunk added: "the long throws are not the easiest to deal with.
“The throws go a very long way and they have big players. It was a team effort to defend them.”
Georginio booked for diving
The other major talking point of the goalless draw came when Georginio Rutter was booked for simulation inside the Palace box.
The referee initially awarded a penalty before rescinding after a VAR check and sanctioning Rutter. Hurzeler, speaking after the match, said he’s yet to see the incident back.
“In the first half there were lots of little fouls like that,” the German said. “I can’t comment because I haven’t seen it. In the end, VAR made the decision to give the penalty back.
“It’s a point we deserved, maybe we deserved more.
“I don’t know if you can be tired in a derby. I wouldn’t say it’s a missed opportunity for that reason, but we missed chances and we were the better team.”
