Pompey favourite: How Liverpool star can help me flourish at Fratton

John Mousinho's post-match thoughts after Hull City defeat

Terry Devlin is one of three members of John Mousinho’s squad set to head out on international duty in the next two weeks.

Terry Devlin is looking to utilise the upcoming international break to learn from Liverpool starlet Conor Bradley.

And the Pompey favourite believes his latest call-up to the national squad can play a key role in his Fratton Park development.

The 22-year-old is set to link up with Michael O’Neill’s squad this week for Green and White Army’s crucial World Cup qualifiers against Slovakia and Luxembourg.

The Liverpool youngster’s stock continues to grow and was heavily praised for his performance against Vinicius Junior in Tuesday’s Champions League triumph against Real Madrid.

Pompey favourite looking to learn from Liverpool talent

He said: ‘I just want to gain a lot of experience. It’s quite similar to the way we’re playing at Portsmouth so I'm probably going to be a wing-back there probably.

‘So just going away and being number two to Conor Bradley so anything I can pick off him, I’ll do that as much as I can.

‘I’ll watch him like a hawk in training, I’ll try go up against him and try learn from him to bring that back here in the next week or so.

‘A lot of people would’ve seen what he did on Tuesday night against Real Madrid, he did really well against one of the best wingers in the world.

‘If I can pick up small things from what he does day in day out and then I’ll try my best to do that.’

Devlin heads into the latest international break in red hot form having started the Blues’ previous two Championship matches, which included a double against Hull City on Saturday.

Terry Devlin eyeing World Cup spot

Northern Ireland face Slovakia on Friday before returning to Windsor Park next Tuesday to host Luxemburg to round off their World Cup qualification campaign.

O’Neill’s men currently sit second in Group A, with two wins giving them a better chance of earning a play-off spot for next summer’s tournament.

And after a frustrating run of form at Fratton Park, Devlin is looking forward to linking-up with his national side as they bid to take a step closer to a place in the competition.

It’s always nice to get away and play for your country, the Pompey favourite added.

‘Obviously with the World Cup qualifiers it’s such a big thing. Hopefully we can get a couple of good results and qualify.

‘It’s quite nice going away and learning new things. Maybe you sometimes play a different way to how you play at your club.

‘To learn different ways of playing, play with different players and pick up little small bits which you can add to your own game as well to keep improving.’
