Ibrahima Konate “all over the place” yet again as “tired” forwards struggle

Liverpool’s 3-0 defeat at Man City was not a night for lofty ratings, not for the first time this season, with Ibrahima Konate and Hugo Ekitike both struggling.

The Reds’ mini-resurgence came to a grinding halt on Sunday, with an insipid performance consigning them to their fifth Premier League defeat of the season.

Here we compare our ratings with the Liverpool Echo, GOAL and the TIA readers.

Ibrahima Konate (3.33) has been poor far too often this season and he got the lowest score for Liverpool on Sunday.

Ian Doyle of the Echo said the Frenchman was “all over the place” in the first half, with the “damage done” by that point after finding himself involved in the defining moments.

Meanwhile, GOAL’s Matthew Judge said Konate was “partly responsible” for the penalty conceded – even that may be being kind!

Hugo Ekitike (4.00) has seen his influence wane in recent weeks, and he offered almost nothing at the Etihad.

This Is Anfield‘s Henry Jackson wondered if he is “starting to look tired” after a long run in the team, with Alexander Isak potentially coming into the side after the international break.

Giorgi Mamardashvili (6.08) got top marks for Liverpool, having saved Erling Haaland’s penalty, but he was the best of a bad bunch.

What the stats say

According to FotMob, Conor Bradley was Liverpool’s best player, getting a 6.5 rating, despite being given a torrid time by Jeremy Doku.

The Northern Irishman made more interceptions than anyone else (three) and also had the second-most recoveries (four) for Liverpool behind Dominik Szoboszlai (six).

Mohamed Salah had another tough afternoon in a season of struggle, winning only four of his 10 duels (40%) – though he was only one of four players to win a tackle – and the same applied to Konate (3/8).

Ryan Gravenberch won just two of nine (22%), however, with the Dutchman’s usual midfield influence sorely lacking.
