Alex Neil confirms Millwall defender will be suspended for Portsmouth trip after ‘extremely soft’ booking

ALEX Neil confirmed Jake Cooper would be suspended for Millwall’s trip to Portsmouth after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Preston North End.

Cooper was penalised in the 69th minute after referee Stephen Martin deemed him to have pulled back Lewis Dobbin, ruling him out of Millwall’s first game after the international break.

Neil criticised the decision in his post-match press conference.

“His booking today, I thought was extremely soft,” Neil said. “I don’t think it was a foul on Dobbin when he spun him in the middle of the pitch. I thought he just eased him out of his arm. But yeah, that would be Jake suspended, which again, doesn’t help us.”

Four Millwall players are two bookings away from suspension: Billy Mitchell, Tristan Crama, Zak Sturge and Joe Bryan.
