Aaron Rodgers took the blame for how the Pittsburgh Steelers played in their disappointing loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

In the Steelers' 25-10 loss to the Chargers in Southern California, seemingly nothing went right for Rodgers and Pittsburgh. Of note, the 41-year-old had one of the worst performances in his career, completing just 16 of 31 pass attempts for 161 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Rodgers' completion percentage, yards pass, and QB rating were among the lowest of his career, though head coach Mike Tomlin opted not to place the blame on one single unit or player. That said, Rodgers admitted his outing Sunday did not live up to his standards.

"I expect to play great every single week, and this was not my best performance. I got to play better in this for us to win," Rodgers reflected to reporters after the loss. "Whatever it takes. I got to make, you know, if it's better checks, if it's better throws, whatever it is, I got to play better. I will, you know, but we got to bounce back."

The 41-year-old added that he and the Steelers can't dwell on the loss too much, as they will face the Cincinnati Bengals next in a division clash. Notably, despite Pittsburgh dropping to 5-4, the Steelers still hold the top spot in the AFC North, although the Baltimore Ravens have gained momentum in recent weeks.

Considering his vast experience in the league, Rodgers noted that what the Steelers are experiencing is "part of the season," with Pittsburgh set to play through "ebbs and flows" and "ups and downs." Still, the star admitted that what happens on the field is a reflection of his play.

"I felt like our energy - it starts with me," Rodgers continued after his first game at SoFi Stadium. "It wasn't as great on offense. I felt like we were just kind of struggling a little bit and couldn't get a play to get going. We always say we just get a first down.

"We usually score on that drive, and we had so many three-and-outs, and we hurt ourselves with a couple penalties and I, you know, I didn't play very good at all. So I got to play better.

"But we also got to realize, listen, we got four division games left to play. It's a long season and, you know, it's a good opponent and we didn't play very good tonight."

Meanwhile, Tomlin believed that it wasn't just Rodgers who should be at fault. Rather, the loss was a culmination of various factors and aspects falling apart simultaneously.

"We as an offensive collective were off today," the head coach said to reporters after the loss. "And certainly he's a component of that. I'll let him speak for himself, but we certainly got to be better. Didn't feel like they did anything unanticipated, but certainly they outperformed us, particularly in possession down play."

When asked if he believed Rodgers had what it took to be the leader the Steelers needed him to be, Tomlin added: "I'm not lacking confidence. We stunk it up tonight. We'll be back."

The Steelers will be back in action on Nov. 16, taking on the Bengals in the friendly confines of Acrisure Stadium.
