The Holland international goalkeeper made two fine saves in a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace.
But he also enjoyed the team display from a defensive viewpoint.
He told The Argus: “They had two shots on target, I think it was.
“So that's a big compliment to the whole team, not just the defensive line, with the whole team.
“I think everybody is working really hard to not concede goals, not concede chances, and that's something we need to continue to do, and try and improve even more and then can we can get some good results.”
Verbruggen said he had mixed feelings about the result and performance.
He added: “Obviously a lot of positives, which is nice.
“I think a strong, solid defensive performance, but we want to get a win here as well.
“I think with a little bit more detail with fine margins, we could maybe score a goal or two.
“But loads of positives to take and also some things to learn from after the break.”
