Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham United are among the clubs showing interest in Celta Vigo’s Óscar Mingueza.
Back in January, Aston Villa were keen but didn’t make advances. Unai Emery’s side have now rekindled that interest in the defender.
That’s according to AS, who report Aston Villa are joined by Newcastle United and West Ham.
The La Liga side received offers worth around €12-14m last summer. His former club, Barcelona, retain 50% of his rights. Celta refused to sell the right-back because they’d only have for €6-7m.
Mingueza is in his final year of contract, and his club have made an effort to secure an extension. Their proposal didn’t convince the Spaniard’s camp, who made a counteroffer. Celta are yet to respond, and the report claims the renewal ‘seems almost impossible’.
The 26-year-old is inclined to listen to offers his agent is receiving ahead of his free agent status.
AS state: ‘The Catalan player is very happy in Vigo but has some very attractive offers on the table.’
They immediately mention Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham as interested clubs. Como, AC Milan, Atalanta and Marseille also have their sights on the player.
The newspaper hasn’t specified whether Aston Villa, Newcastle United or West Ham have tabled offers for Mingueza.
