Ally McCoist was asked if Daniel Farke is under pressure at Leeds United, his answer is clear

Former Scotland international Ally McCoist has serious concerns over Daniel Farke’s future at Leeds United following the damaging defeat at Nottingham Forest.

Daniel Farke cut a dejected figure at full-time of the defeat at the City Ground, having watched his side slump to an abject Premier League defeat.

With reports circulating before the game that Farke had five games to save his Leeds job, the German manager got that run of games off to the worst possible start.

Jon Newsome criticised Farke at full-time, after the Leeds manager attempted to deflect blame onto the referee for failing to give a foul on Anton Stach in the build-up to the second Forest goal.

Now, as the dust settles on another disappointing Leeds performance, McCoist has stated that he believes Farke is now under pressure at Elland Road.

Ally McCoist believes Daniel Farke is under pressure at Leeds United

Speaking on TalkSport Breakfast on the morning of the 10th November, McCoist made his position on Farke’s future clear.

With reports that Leeds have lined up two managers as potential replacements, McCoist argued that Leeds’ alarming drop-off in form is a “concern”.

TalkSport presenter Jeff Stelling raised the topic, stating: “Daniel Farke is under a bit of pressure at Leeds.”

To which McCoist responded: “Oh, you better believe he is, yeah.

“We never did get carried away with all three newly promoted sides having a great start, particularly Sunderland, but it was always going to be difficult for the likes of Leeds and Burnley to stay up.

“I mean, they’re still seriously in with a fighting chance, of course they are, but Leeds’ drop in form will be a concern and some poor results.”

Premier League stats highlight Leeds United’s defensive issues

Leeds have now conceded two goals or more in their last three away games and have put together a run of seven games without a clean sheet in the top flight.

The underlying stats from Opta highlight just how much of a problem Leeds have in defence, after Lucas Perri was criticised again for his role in Forest’s first goal.

Across the 11 games of the season to date, Leeds have faced 116 shots and conceded 20 goals at a conversion rate of 17.24%, which is the highest in the Premier League. Leeds have also conceded the joint-highest expected goals per shot, at 0.13.

Goals vs xG Against 5.15 3rd

Shots Against 116 17th

Conversion Rate 17.24% 1st

xG per shot 0.13 =1st

When converted to an overall figure, Leeds have the third-highest goals conceded vs xG against differential, having conceded 5.15 more goals than expected.

These statistics show that Leeds are giving their opponents chances in scoring positions, which was clear from Forest’s three goals. If Farke is given time to turn the situation around, finding a way to make Leeds solid at the back again has to be his top priority.
