Daniel Farke sack decision looms as fan anger erupts – he’s lost all control

Daniel Farke Leeds United

Daniel Farke mentioned earlier this season that at Leeds United, the narrative changes with the result this week. And after Sunday, the atmosphere around Elland Road has definitely shifted.

The Whites suffered their fourth loss in five games away from home to Sean Dyche’s Nottingham Forest side. Going into this weekend, there was a huge chance for both sides to grab a crucial three points. Leeds needed a win to distance themselves from the relegation zone, while Forest needed the result to start climbing their way out.

Lukas Nmecha gave the Whites the lead in the first 13 minutes of the match. The home side equalized after just two minutes, and dominated the rest of the first half. Leeds seemed quite content to sit back and take the result, but in the second half, Sean Dyche made three substitutions early in the second half.

It paid off as Omari Hutchinson found Morgan Gibbs-White to take the lead. Hutchinson was at the center once again for the third goal. This time, it was Daniel Farke’s second half substitute Jack Harrison that brought the winger down in the box for a penalty. Elliott Anderson stepped up to score and seal all three points.

As the players approached the away end at full-time, they were met with a very unhappy fanbase. The away support at the City Ground reacted angrily to the players as they approached, feeling as though the players had not provided anywhere near the level of response that was needed following a horror performance at Brighton last week. In fact, they served up more of the same in a game they never looked like winning – despite taking that early lead.

Daniel Farke gives brutal verdict on Leeds United fans

In recent weeks, Leeds fans have not been happy with Daniel Farke’s post-match press conferences. The German seems to never take accountability for his tactics and team selection. And it continued today, as the Leeds boss called the fanbase ”emotional”.

“Fanbase is very, very emotional. Everyone doubts us after every loss. Everyone has the right to be critical because we have conceded too many goals in the last two games. We could have made our lives easier, for sure. I didn’t expect a smooth, easy ride this season.

“Quite normal you’re angry after a loss. Small details important. A few details not good enough today. Really good start. Great finish from Nmecha. Gave this away so cheaply. Should have been more on it in the duels.”

As a coach under pressure, these words do not gain any sympathy from the fans. Especially this season where Farke’s decisions surrounding the team have been subpar. But the German keeps deflecting, recently pointing to expected goals, possession and ”winning duels”. Leeds supporters want results, not to be on the right side of certain stats, and now the anger from the fanbase could be about to force the board into a decision as the Whites sleepwalk back to the Championship.

Leeds boss downplays poor form – he’s angering the fans

After accusing the fanbase of overreacting as the away end at the City Ground yesterday told the player’s and manager what they thought of another abject display, Daniel Farke defended himself, saying that the team are not struggling. The Leeds boss boasted that his side have never been in the bottom three this season and that it is a good sign they have ‘a point a game’.

Farke is not reading the room. Leeds fans can see what’s coming, the media, pundits and opposition fans can see what’s coming. A poor return for goals and a woeful defence has Leeds headed towards the drop zone, not to mention the nightmare fixture list coming up. Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool all follow a tricky looking home game against in-form Aston Villa after the international break, at the moment it’s hard to see where Leeds pick up another point.

It is quite frankly an absurd take from Farke to be happy with Leeds current points tally given the opposition we have faced, those we are about to face and the points that have been dropped. He is further alienating himself from the fans who just want honesty. We are struggling, the new signings are struggling and the overall recruitment has been poor – especially when you compare to Sunderland.

Leeds have one of the worst attacks in the league, and a terrible defensive unit. Almost every statistic points to how average they are. If Farke manages to survive the international break, he has a lot of holes to plug if the Whites are to keep their distance from the bottom of the league as January approaches. This is only going one way if he stays.
