Newcastle United were well beaten by Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Keith Andrews has hailed his Brentford players for being “relentless” and putting Newcastle United to the sword.
Eddie Howe’s men took a first-half lead at the Gtech Community Stadium against the run of play. Harvey Barnes fired the Magpies in front on 27 minutes but, truth be told, few believed they were worthy of the advantage.
A familiar tale in the capital soon emerged as Brentford came from behind to stun Newcastle 3-1. The defeat leaves the Magpies sitting two points above the relegation zone after 11 games.
Keith Andrews on Brentford win
Speaking to reporters post-match, Brentford boss Andrews insisted his team “deserved” to win yesterday. He said: "We had to react to going a goal down and we edged the first half. We didn't want to chase it in the second half, and we looked more calm in and out of possession. Ultimately, I felt we were relentless.
"I have come in pretty quick, but the one thing I will say is the officials have a tough task on their hands. Ultimately, we got the result that we deserve so that's the biggest thing in my head.
“We want to make it an uncomfortable place to come and we did that today. You have to fight and respect the opposition. I think we are doing that really well at the moment."
Newcastle United experienced heads
Howe was also asked whether any of the experienced heads in the dressing room spoke up at full-time. Instead, he preferred to voice his opinion during Newcastle’s post-match debrief.
“We've got an experienced team and occasionally those players may speak,” Howe added. “But I think it was important for me to speak and give my message to the team. In times of adversity and difficulty, I think it's when your true character is tested and when your true character is revealed.
“And I think we need to be very calm, but we need to be measured and we need to be reflective. We need to then come out of this period with a way forward and a way that we're going to be successful away from home and at home and get some more points.”

‘Let everyone down’ - Eddie Howe
On the performance, Howe said: "I can't give you a satisfactory answer to that because it's not satisfactory. We haven't done our jobs and we feel we have let everybody down. When you do that, when you make mistakes, it's not intentional from anyone. All you can do is hold your hands up and go: 'Right, let's try and fix it.' That's what we are going to try and do."
