In September, Tuttomercatoweb covered Wolves’ interest in Lazio’s Christos Mandas.
They failed to sign the goalkeeper in the summer, because the Italian side were under a transfer ban and couldn’t have replaced him.
This season, Mandas hasn’t played a single minute in Serie A, and is firmly their second-choice. Lazio are looking to sell the player to ease their finances.
The player’s agent Diego Tavano has spoken to Calcio con Fulmi about Mandas’ future and lack of game time.
He said, relayed by Calciomercato: “Mandas is a fantastic lad who deserves a lot. The path was the right one, to develop him. He was responding brilliantly and everything was going well. Now the choices are different, I don’t question them.”
Tavano appeared to confirm that Wolves have held talks for him previously. He also said Lazio’s asking price could be higher than Mandas’ actual value.
“We’ve spoken to some English clubs, not top clubs, who were looking to invest a lot of money. A sale of the player could be considered in January, but certainly for much less. We raised his price to €1, and today he’s worth at least €10m. Lazio’s asking price is much higher.”
The 24-year-old can emerge as a market opportunity for Wolves, should they want to return for him.
Mandas impressed last season, when he played 20 times in all competitions.
