Former Rangers coach 'expected' to join Wolves after club board 'deeply hurt' by shock…

Rangers 0-2 Roma review as squad woes deepen at Ibrox.

The former Rangers coach is set for a Premier League chance at Wolves.

A former Rangers coach is set to join Wolves after a shock turn of events that will bring Rob Edwards to Molineux.

The former Luton Town manager was only named Middlesbrough boss in the summer and started the season well at the Riverside, but didn’t take training and a press conference was cancelled last week as he sought Wolves. They are bottom of the Premier League and adrift by eight points after 11 games, but Edwards has seemingly made it clear he wants the move.

That left coach Adi Viveash taking the team for a 2-1 Championship win against Birmingham City, where Harry Watling was part of the coaching team. He was a first team coach in Michael Beale’s ill-fated reign as head coach at Rangers and has since managed National League club Ebbsfleet United, before joining Edwards’ coaching staff.

Who will join Rob Edwards at Wolves?

It’s now been claimed by the Northern Echo that after the win at the weekend, former Rangers man Watling is ‘expected’ to head to Wolves with Edwards after Middlesbrough’s hierarchy were left ‘deeply hurt’ by Edwards walking out after just over four months at the helm. Viveash said: “It’s a fantastic club. I said that when I came. I’ve been in the other dug-out and the noise that night in the play-off semi-final and the special nature of the game.

“They always had fantastic players here as a kid growing up. There’s an amazing owner. I feel really privileged that I work at a club that he owns. I’ve enjoyed every minute immensely, getting to know the staff, the players. I’m a coach who develops players so I like to build relationships with players.

My role here is what it is and I’ve tried to be as good as I can be in that role. It’s a little bit different. It’s certainly the furthest up north I’ve ever worked and you have to deal with all those other things off the pitch.

Who is Harry Watling?

“But it's a great football club, a great football club, and you can feel it. “You have some great characters around and some really lovely people at the club. This club is full of amazing, amazing staff. That's what I would say.”

Watling said of time at Rangers: “Working for a club as prestigious as Rangers is a massive privilege so I am really excited and looking forward to it. Straight away you see the level is high and the enthusiasm from the players since we have come in has been top.

“Their ability, their enthusiasm and their passion to practice has been great. Everyone has got a little bit of a skip in their step which is great to see so I am really looking forward to helping them improve and helping us win. My title is first-team development coach so I am here to help develop the individuals first and foremost. We have got a lot of exciting young players here that I want to help get into the first-team.
