Rosa Kafaji scored in second-half stoppage time to earn Brighton & Hove Albion a point against Liverpool in the WSL on Sunday.
Having come on as a 63rd-minute sub, Rosa tucked in a cutback from Nadine Noordam's cutback to salvage a point at St Helens Stadium and end the Seagulls' three-game losing run in the league. It was the Swedish striker's second goal for the club, who were missing Michelle Agyemang due to her knee injury sustained on England duty.
There was also late joy for Jessie Gale, as she also scored a last-gasp goal to help Portsmouth beat Sunderland 3-2. Pompey were trailing heading into 11 added minutes, but for the second game in succession, Jessie came off the bench to find the net in the 93rd minute, before her side netted again through Meg Hornby to snatch the victory on Wearside.
Also in the women's game, Cecily Wellesley-Smith was an unused substitute as Leicester City left it late to draw 1-1 at West Ham United, while in the WSL2, both Maddy Earl and Naomi Williams also remained on the bench as Bristol City thumped Ipswich Town 7-0.
In men's action, Jakub Kiwior was an unused substitute for Porto in midweek as they played out a 1-1 draw with Utrecht in the league phase of the Europa League, but then continued his excellent start to life at the club as he helped them to a seventh clean sheet during his 10 appearances as they beat Famalicao 1-0 on Sunday to maintain their three-point lead at the top of the Lifa de Portugal.
Reiss Nelson came off the bench late on in Brentford's 3-1 win against Newcastle United on Sunday, for his fourth appearance for the Bees who are 12th in the Premier League table.
In the Bundesliga, Karl Hein was on the bench as Werder Bremen overcame Wolfsburg 2-1 on Friday night, while Fabio Vieira was suspended as Hamburg secured a promising 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund. Oleksandr Zinchenko missed Nottingham Forest’s 0-0 Europa League draw with Sturm Graz and their first league win since the opening day against Leeds United on Sunday with a groin injury.
Ismeal Kabia claimed an assist for the consolation scored by Shrewsbury Town in Saturday’s 3-1 derby day defeat to Crewe Alexandra in League Two. Ismeal played 78 minutes of the contest, but the Shrews are still in the drop zone.
It has been a busy week for Maldini Kacurri, who has become an integral part of the Morecambe side battling at the foot of the National League. Maldini played all 180 minutes across two matches, both drawn against Hartlepool United on Tuesday and Sutton United on Saturday.
Since arriving on loan at St Albans City, teenage prospect Daniel Oyetunde has made his mark. Debuting against League One opponents Burton Albion in the FA Cup last weekend, Daniel scored his first goal for the club on Saturday, netting in a 4-2 defeat by Dulwich Hamlet in the Isthmian League - just a minute after entering the action as a second-half substitute. St Albans are now 11th in the table as they seek a return to the sixth tier.
Meanwhile, Lucas Nygaard’s Brabrand recovered from two down to draw 2-2 away at Ishoj on Saturday in the Danish Second Division.
