Messi sends message to Barcelona fans after secret Camp Nou visit – ‘I hope one day I can come…

Even as FC Barcelona fans await the team’s return to the renovated Spotify Camp Nou, they have been greeted with a surprise treat.

Former club captain and legend Lionel Messi secretly paid a visit to the redeveloped Camp Nou this past weekend in a massive surprise.

The Argentine icon, who left Barça in 2021, has never hidden his love for the club, even though things are tense between his camp and the current Barcelona administration led by president Joan Laporta.

And, a video has now emerged showing Messi seeing the developments that are taking place at the Spotify Camp Nou, where Barça hope to play again later this month after two years away.

Messi’s message

Not only that, but Messi also had an emotional message to the Barcelona fans upon his return to the redeveloped Camp Nou.

“Last night I returned to a place I miss with my soul. A place where I was immensely happy, where you guys made me feel a thousand times the happiest person in the world,” Messi wrote on his social media.

The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner then added that he hoped to return in the future, ruing the fact that he never got to say goodbye to the fans at Camp Nou when he left the club.

“I hope one day I can come back, and not just to say goodbye as a player, as I never got to….”

It must be noted that Barcelona have been trying to organise a tribute for Messi for some time now, although there has not been a great deal of progress.

Meanwhile, there have been reports of late suggesting that the Argentine might play a part in the upcoming club presidential elections by possibly supporting one of the candidates running against Laporta.
