Everton left-back Vitalii Mykolenko has been speaking about an aspect of his play that he is actively working upon trying to improve
Everton kept their first clean sheet since September 13 with the 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday. But defender Vitalii Mykolenko admits he needs to improve an aspect of his game.
The Ukraine international has played 34 or more matches in all competitions in each full season that he’s been with the Blues since making a £17million transfer from Dynamo Kyiv in January 2022, for a total of 132 appearances so far.
During that time, he has netted four goals and three assists compared to the 39 goals and 59 assists in 420 matches from Leighton Baines and six goals and 20 assists in 127 matches from Lucas Digne, Everton’s two previous first choice left-backs.

Rafael Benitez, the manager who brought Mykolenko to Goodison Park, was sacked the day after he made his debut in a 2-1 defeat at Norwich City.
And after relegation battles under Frank Lampard and Sean Dyche, the 26-year-old is now hoping to have more opportunities to get forward under David Moyes.
Sport Witness cite Mykolenko as telling Sport UA: “The truth is that I need to progress in the game in the final third of the field.
“Of course, at Dynamo I had different numbers. You shouldn’t compare Dynamo and Everton.
“For three seasons we have been constantly in the relegation zone, and for the most part we don’t feel like attacking.
“The new coach David Moyes and I started playing differently, and I agree that I need to add to my attacking play. “For three years I hardly attacked, and now I need to be better at the other team’s goal.
“We are actively working on my attacking play.”
